概述
Where the required outlet pressure is high and the flow is moderate, a reciprocating booster is the right machine. Multi-stage piston compression handles pressure ratios that a screw machine cannot reach.
Both fixed-speed and variable-speed versions are available. The variable-speed version is worth specifying wherever demand is intermittent: for example a blow-moulding line that changes bottle format through the day.

多级压缩加级间冷却，把每一级的排气温度控制在阀片和活塞环能承受的范围内。所以中间冷却器不是配件，而是让这台机器耐用的原因。

控制器做的事
在往复式机器上，级间压力就是诊断依据。某一级阀门状态变差时，级间压力就会移动，而这在面板上比在产气量上更早显现。
机器按储气罐压力停机，而不是靠阀门反复循环；它既计小时也计启动次数，因为对这类电机而言，真正造成磨损的是启动次数。
每一级的排气温度都报警并记录趋势。在活塞机上，这是阀片即将失效最早、也最诚实的警告。

配件与保养套件
先是阀片，然后是活塞环和填料，再然后是缸套。周期是公开的，配件是有库存的；一台严格按这份清单保养的机器，会比它周围的大部分设备活得更久。
在往复式增压机上，最昂贵的错误就是继续用一组已经疲劳的阀片。它立刻开始多耗电，并把热量送进下一级，于是又赔上另一批配件。

容积流量按 ISO 1217 第四版附录 C 与 E 实测，进气 1 bar(a)、20°C、湿度 0%。噪声按 ISO 2151 在自由场条件下测量，公差 ± 3 dB(A)。每款机型均有水冷版本，可向我们索取其数据表。
常见问题
Why is a reciprocating machine used for boosting?
Because piston compression handles high pressure ratios efficiently. Above roughly 15 bar it is the practical choice, and above 40 bar it is usually the only one.
How many stages does it need?
It depends on the ratio. Each stage handles a limited ratio before discharge temperature becomes the limit, so higher pressure means more stages and intercooling.
What is intercooling for?
Cooling the gas between stages. It lowers the work needed for the next stage and keeps discharge temperature within safe limits: it is efficiency and safety together.
Can it run continuously?
Many can, but duty cycle varies far more than with screw machines. We check the required duty before quoting rather than after installation.
What maintenance does it need?
Valves, piston rings and packing at planned intervals. Valves are the wear item and the commonest cause of lost capacity.
How do I know a valve is failing?
Rising interstage pressure or temperature, falling delivery, and a change in sound. Interstage gauges are the cheapest diagnostic you can fit.
Is it noisy?
Louder than a screw compressor and pulsating. Acoustic housing and pulsation dampers are usually part of the installation, not an extra.
Can it handle gases other than air?
Yes: nitrogen, and other gases with the right materials and sealing. Tell us the gas at enquiry, because it changes the whole specification.
What about foundations?
Reciprocating machines produce unbalanced forces. Larger units need a designed foundation, and we provide the loading data for your civil engineer.
How long do they last?
Decades, with valve and ring service. These are long-life machines and they reward a maintenance schedule more than almost anything else in a plant room.
