Not every requirement justifies a new machine. A standby unit that runs forty hours a year, a temporary installation or a tight capital budget can all be served by a properly refurbished compressor.
The word that matters is 'properly'. Every used machine we sell is stripped in our own workshop, gets a new airend or a fully inspected one, new bearings, seals, coolers, filters and oil, is run-tested against its original performance figures, and carries a written twelve-month warranty on parts and labour.

How we prepare them
Every used machine we sell has been stripped, inspected and rebuilt to a written standard rather than cleaned and put on a list.
The airend is assessed first, because it is the item that decides whether a machine is worth rebuilding at all. If it is not, the machine does not go on sale.
What you get is a performance test result on the machine you are buying, not on a model. That is the difference between a rebuilt machine and a second hand one.

What you should ask
Ask for the running hours and the service history, and be careful of a machine that has neither. Hours without history tell you very little.
Ask for the performance test on that serial number. Any serious rebuilder has one and anyone who cannot produce it is estimating.
Ask what warranty is offered and what it covers. Ours covers the airend, because that is the part that matters and the part we have assessed.

Parts and service
A rebuilt machine goes onto the same service schedule as a new one, and we hold the parts for it. That is the main reason to buy a used machine from a company that services them.
We will say when a model is close to the end of its parts availability, because a cheap machine with no parts behind it is not cheap.
Consumables are all new at handover, so the first service interval starts from the day you take it.

What does refurbished actually mean here?
Stripped in our own workshop, airend inspected or exchanged, new bearings, seals, coolers, filters and oil, then run-tested against original performance figures.
What warranty do I get?
Twelve months on parts and labour, in writing, backed by the same service team that looks after our new machines.
How much cheaper is it?
Typically 40 to 55% of new price. Whether that is the right buy depends entirely on how many hours it will run.
When is a used machine a bad idea?
When it will run continuously. Over three years the energy difference against a modern variable-speed machine usually outweighs the purchase saving.

Do I get performance figures?
Yes, the run-test sheet comes with the machine, showing measured flow and power against the original specification rather than a claim.
How quickly can it be delivered?
Stock machines can usually be delivered and commissioned within a week, which is often the real reason customers choose one.
Can I trade in my old machine?
Yes, where it is worth refurbishing. We assess it and offer either a trade-in value or a scrappage against the replacement.
Is it serviced on the same plans?
Yes, identical service plans and intervals to a new machine, with the same parts stocked in country.
