Overview
This is the smallest screw range we build, and it exists for one reason: a piston compressor that runs all day will not last. Below about 5.5 kW most workshops still buy a piston machine, then replace it every two or three years because it was never designed for continuous duty.
A GAC-S unit in this class runs at a 100% duty cycle. It sits on a 200 or 270 litre receiver, plugs into a standard three-phase supply and typically measures under 66 dB(A), quiet enough to stand next to and hold a conversation.
Key benefits
Runs all day, every day
100% duty cycle rating. No cool-down periods, no thermal cut-outs in the middle of a shift.
Fits where you have space
Receiver-mounted footprint from 0.9 m². Optional integrated refrigerant dryer adds nothing to the floor area.
Service in under an hour
Filters, separator and oil are all reachable from one side. No need to pull the machine out of its corner.
How it is built
A screw airend in this size band is driven straight off the motor shaft. There are no belts to tension, nothing to slip on a cold start, and no drive losses to pay for on every unit of air the machine makes.
The compressor, the receiver, the dryer and the filters arrive as one assembly, piped and wired. In a workshop that matters more than it sounds, because the alternative is four separate items standing on the floor joined by whatever hose came to hand.
The canopy is lined for sound and opens on both sides. Oil, filters and the separator are all reached without pulling the machine away from the wall, which is usually the reason a small compressor gets serviced late.
- Direct drive with no belts to tension
- Receiver, dryer and filters built in
- Sound lined canopy, opens both sides
- One electrical connection to make
- Rated for continuous running, not a duty cycle
- Air cooled, no water supply needed
- Fits through a standard doorway
- Drain fitted and piped from the factory
What the controller does
The panel is deliberately plain. Line pressure, running hours, the hours left until the next service and the last few faults, which is everything a workshop actually reads.
It starts and stops the machine on pressure, restarts itself after a power cut, and will hold a second lower pressure setting for the hours when nothing demanding is running. That second setting is the cheapest saving available on any compressed air system.
When the service countdown reaches zero the screen says so rather than hiding it in a menu. Nobody has to remember a date, and the machine tells the person standing in front of it.
- Line pressure and running hours on one screen
- Service countdown in hours
- Fault history kept on the machine
- Second pressure setting for quiet hours
- Automatic restart after a power failure
- Dry run and over temperature protection
Parts and service kits
A service kit holds every wear part for that interval in one box. Air filter, oil filter, separator, oil and the seals that go with them, so the machine goes back together the same day rather than waiting on one missing O ring.
Filters that look identical can flow very differently. One that restricts the inlet by two tenths of a bar costs more in electricity over a year than the whole service did, which is how a compressed air bill goes up with nobody noticing.
We quote kits against your machine's serial number rather than guessing from the model, and we hold them in local stock in every country we trade in.
- Kits boxed by interval, nothing missed
- Genuine filters to the tested specification
- Compressor fluid matched to the machine
- Quoted against your serial number
- Held in local stock, not on a lead time
- Fitted by our engineer or by yours

Frequently asked questions
Why buy a screw compressor this small instead of a piston?
Because a piston machine at this size will not survive continuous use. If the compressor runs more than a couple of hours a day, a 2.2 kW screw outlasts three piston machines.
Can it run on single phase?
The 2.2 kW model can, on request. Above that, three phase is required, a single-phase motor at 4 kW draws a starting current most small workshops cannot supply.
How much air does a workshop actually need?
One air gun and an impact wrench used intermittently is under 0.3 m³/min. A tyre bay running two lines wants 0.5–0.75 m³/min, which is the 5.5 kW machine.
How noisy is it?
Under 66 dB(A), which is quiet enough to stand next to and hold a conversation. It does not need its own room.
What receiver size comes with it?
200 or 270 litres, tank-mounted so the whole package sits on about 0.9 m² of floor. The integrated dryer option adds nothing to the footprint.
Do I need the integrated dryer?
In Karachi, Dubai or Muscat, yes. The dryer costs less than the air tools it protects, and rust from wet air destroys them from the inside.
How long does a service take?
Under an hour. Filters, separator and oil are all reachable from one side, so the machine does not need pulling out of its corner.
What is the duty cycle?
100%. It is rated to run continuously with no cool-down periods and no thermal cut-outs part way through a shift.
What pressure should I order?
8 bar covers almost every workshop tool. Order 10 bar only if you have a specific machine that needs it. The extra pressure costs about 15% more energy for everything else.
Is it worth servicing a machine this small?
Yes, an oil and filter change is a small fraction of the replacement cost, and a neglected small screw fails the same way a large one does.
